It’s 6+ weeks before the Fall 2017 Libertine NYC Runway show and we have the first of several important and creative meetings to discuss nails with Johnson Hartig, designer and owner of Libertine, at his home base in L.A. The clothing is actually there and finishing touches are being decided, which means it’s time to talk NAILS!!!
- First we are inspired by a flamboyant Romanian gypsy known for her bold, colorful and eclectic style. Naturally we decide on a high contrast rose print in primary and secondary brights to take center stage as our base set for all models.
- Then we talk about the village woman of Uzbekistan known for their fine embroidery and unique, now coveted, needlepoint work that sells for thousands of dollars around the world. We are driven to make these nails like NO other set we have ever created! We will embroider in miniature and use the tiniest bugle beads…we will hand place an impossible number of gems, beads, stones and feathers, and hand place yards of tiny threads that look miraculously precise.
The result is the epitome of true artistry.
We are touched by the experience and moved by the results.
We LOVE Libertine xo! – Jan
